Still nothing new in the store?

I know missing the holiday season isn't the best idea for someone trying to sell things.  It would have been nice if I had decided to start this whole re-vamp sooner... and if general life inconveniences hadn't popped-up.
I've also been testing a few knitting patterns while I get other things for the shop in order.

Some good news is that I have been hired by someone to crochet some squares for them.  She called when I was at work to ask if the crochet class was going to happen or not.  Since she was the only one taking it, it was going to get canceled.  She asked if anyone in the store knew how to crochet.  When I told her that I did she asked if I would do something for her.
When she came in to talk to me I found out that she has a degenerative disk decease.  It doesn't let her do crafts for very long before it hurts.  She had made a crochet blanket for her daughter for Christmas, well, it was seen.  She promised her niece one, but hasn't been able to complete it.  She has been working on it for 4 months and have only been able to finish 2 squares.  She asked me to finish the last ones for her, and I agreed.  We both agreed on a price and I now have all I need to work on them.
I'm going to try and finish them before I do too much more with the shop.

New Ideas!

I have been messing with some new idea for items to put in the shop.  Why am I working on new stuff when I don't have any of the old stuff listed?
.... I don't know either.

I do, however, have the paint I need. All I need now is to find a good size box and paint it.  I then need to find the cord for my camera and I will be all set!
It would also help if I could find all those pocket-tissue covers I started a while ago.  Oh well, they are around here somewhere.

Bad timing is bad.

So the day after my fiancee went out of town, my computer decided to throw a hissy fit.  It wouldn't do a virus scan on the E drive correctly, but I tried not to worry about it too much.  I got it to scan and nothing turned-up, so I had it scan again.  While it was scanning a second time I got a zillion errors for files that are now corrupt, and the fact that they are corrupt might cause hard-drive problems.
I had no idea how to tell if these were real problems, or like the pop-ups that promise they can make your computer virus free as it installs 20 of them.  I decided the best action would be to leave the computer off until someone who has some idea of what is going on can look at it.
While this isn't too much of a problem on its own, I am going to an anime convention this weekend.  I thought it would be lots of fun if I could bring some of my custom sewn card holders.  The only problem with this is that I need the computer to make the iron-on transfer layouts.
The fiancee doesn't get home until next week, so it looks like no computer for me until next weekend at the earliest.  I don't want to make my computer worse by turning it on and trying to work with it anyway, so it looks like I won't get to make those card holders.
Oh well, maybe I can get some bottle-cap necklaces done in time.

I can now be sewing two things at once!

I just fixed the sewing machine that my friend gave me.  She was somehow missing the piece that screws onto the post that comes down and hooks the sewing foot.  Now I have more than one sewing machine, so obviously this means I can be sewing more than one thing at a time.
Tissue cover on one and a wallet on the other!  Either that or I can try and teach the cat how to sew.  Who needs child labor when you can make the cat do it? (Especially since I don't have access to child labor)
I probably won't be able to get much done from now to Turkey day, but I am going to try and get a few things listed.  My poor shop is looking a bit lonely, I think I saw a tumble-weed earlier in the week.

Button hole?

The paint I got is definitly not enough to paint the inside of a carboard box for photographic uses.  However, while my friend and I were hanging out and watching bad horror movies, she asked me if I wanted her old sewing machine.
Part of the sewing foot (not sure if that is what is it called) is broken.  She got a newer one, and this old one had been sitting in her car for a while now.  I told her I would take it.  My only other sewing machine has its own table and isn't very portable.  It turns out that her old machine can do button holes!  Mine doesn't even know what a button hole is!  I am very excited to try and think of new things to make with button holes!

Already heading in the right direction!

Right now I have some paint on the way to help make a back-drop for my product pictures.  I think I will try cutting the top and two sides off of a good sized cardboard box and paint the inside.
If there is not enough paint (a friend is being nice and giving me the paint for free) I will probably just buy some fabric and do the exact same thing.

A new day, and a new blog!

I love the feel of a shiny new blog!  Oh the possibilities!  Will this be where I ran about the world? Or shall it be where I go on about all the good things in life?
I decided that this is going to be able my Esty shop.  I half-heartedly tried to get it up and running before.  I added the items, but I didn’t do any advertising, so no one knew I was out there!  I did get a few sales, but I was just lucky with those, it was nothing close to being “successful.”
Hopefully this blog will help me to become a better Etsy shop owner.  If nothing else, it will hopefully remind me to keep the shop updated.
I do have a few warnings though.  I will probably talk about faux pas things like money and not having enough time.  Hopefully not too often, but they might slip in there.  Also, if you are offended by the word “stupid” you will probably not want to read this because that is my go-to angry/frustrated word.

Fingers crossed everyone!
